About us

Corporate history

Shaolin Heavy Industries traces its origins to the +s channels of mid-90s DALnet, where the famed 1337 hax0r known as The Pretender, author of the e-bola mIRC script, made his fortune slinging shells and kickban scripts.

TP then turned his attention to hardware. Primware, his line of deliberately underpowered desktop computers, was engineered to force its users offline and out into the real world.

Primware's success funded a series of acquisitions: FUFME, Inc. in 1999, BrokenVision Media, LLC in 2000 and GreenBeanie Pharmaceuticals in 2003. These complementary businesses were subsequently unified under the Shaolin Heavy Industries brand to unlock cross-portfolio synergies.

In 2008, the company expanded its media footprint with the acquisition of gaming and pop culture zine Protokulture. Like many of its peers, however, Shaolin Heavy Industries was not immune to the global financial crisis that same year. The company was revitalized in 2016 by the acquisition of on-demand fabrication company Shaolin Foundry, an addition that has positioned it as a major global player across industries that other, more traditional conglomerates wouldn't dare to touch.
